The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has confirmed the circulation of a fraudulent message across various platforms, which instructs students to make payments for school fees into unauthorized bank accounts.

In a statement signed by the UISU President, T. S. Adeboye, students are urged to disregard any message or email directing them to make payments into personal or unfamiliar bank accounts, including those falsely claiming to represent official university payment channels outside the approved student portal.

The Union emphasized that all official school fee payments must be made strictly through the University-approved payment channels on the student portal.

It further advised students to avoid clicking suspicious links or making transactions to unknown accounts.

Students who receive such messages are encouraged to ignore them and refrain from sharing them, except to report to the appropriate authorities.

The Students’ Union also reiterated that the University will not request payments through unofficial emails or unverified account details.

Students are urged to remain vigilant and to help disseminate accurate information in order to prevent others from falling victim to the scam.
