February 10, 2026The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UISU) has clarified that while the Jaja registration number remains a compulsory requirement for accommodation applications, the upload of the Jaja card image is now optional.
The clarification was issued in a press release dated Monday, February 9, 2026, and co-signed by the UISU President, Temidayo S. Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua O. Shontan.
The press release contained resolutions from a meeting held earlier that day, between the University management and student leaders to deliberate on issues concerning the new accommodation process in the University.
“The meeting involved the Dean of Students, the Deputy Dean of Students, hall chairpersons, faculty presidents, and other concerned stakeholders,” the release read.
The Jaja registration number remains a compulsory requirement for accommodation application, while the upload of a scanned copy of the Jaja card is no longer required.
“Kindly note that your Jaja registration number is still required, but the card image upload is optional,” the release stated.
The UHS Requisite Form will apply only to returning students, as fresh (incoming) students are not affected by the requirement.
Obtainment of the Hall Accommodation Form, which has been a long-standing practice in University halls of residence, is no longer a requirement for accommodation application.
As earlier stated in the notice from the Office of the Dean of Students, the deadline for completion of the UHS Requisite Form remains February 11, 2026.
Application and payment for accommodation for freshly admitted students are scheduled to hold between February 12 and 19, while application and payment for returning students will commence on February 13 and end on February 20, 2026.
Room allocation for fresh students and final-year students is scheduled to begin on February 21, while allocation for returning non-final-year students will commence on February 26, 2026.
The Students’ Union also requested the University Management to establish a trilateral forum comprising the management, student leaders, and private hostel owners across the campus.
According to the Union, the forum is aimed at promoting flexibility, accountability, hostel price control, and collective decision-making on issues relating to accommodation.
“This initiative aims to promote transparency, flexibility, accountability, and more student-friendly pricing for private hostels within the University environment,” the release added.
