The University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU) has addressed concerns raised by students over delays in National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) disbursement, discrepancies in school fees, and approaching course registration deadlines.

In a statement signed by the Students’ Union President, T. S. Adeboye, the Union assured students that ongoing engagements with university authorities, including the Director of ITEMS and other stakeholders handling NELFUND-related matters, have provided clarifications on the issues.

According to the Union, students who successfully registered for NELFUND on or before March 30 are advised to remain calm, noting that arrangements are underway to ensure disbursements are processed and pending payments resolved before deadlines.

It added that discrepancies observed in school fees by some students who registered before the university portal update were due to differences between displayed fees and NELFUND-approved amounts.

The University, it said, has since updated its portal to reflect students’ current fee status, with adjustments ongoing.

The Union further explained that records of students who completed change of department processes have been updated and transmitted accordingly.

It also advised students who transferred from other institutions to UI and applied for NELFUND to complete the Change of Institution form on the NELFUND portal to maintain eligibility for subsequent disbursements.

The Union urged students to remain calm, saying it is monitoring the situation and working with relevant authorities to ensure no eligible student is adversely affected.

‎The statement further indicated that additional verified updates will be communicated through the Union’s official channels.
