The Sixty-Six

It's that time of the year again,
and the colours,
Green and White, are celebrated,
and the music of our past heroes
fills the air
like unstopped smoke.

People praise,
people promise,
whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Yes, it's a day of joy,
joy of freedom and freedom,
and freedom.

A day our lives truly became ours,
no shackles tied to our wrists
like caged monsters.
The day we became the king
we used to be.
A day we became freer,
freer than those
whose choices were stripped from them.

Grace to Grass to Grace,
to Grace it will always be,
and not to grass.

It's a glorious day,
a day history defined itself,
a day of memories,
a day of hope.
