Scholar Urges Muslims to Engage in Spiritual Activities

An Islamic scholar, Ustadh Taiwo Fadlu-Rahman, has urged Muslims to commit more time to spiritual activities and remain mindful of their faith.

Ustadh Fadlu-Rahman gave this advice during the Spiritual Night held on Thursday, 3rd July, 2025, at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque, where he spoke on the topic “Beyond the Physical.”

He explained that jinn may harm humans for two main reasons: either to oppress them or in response to ignorant actions by humans, such as singing, dancing, or seeking power through forbidden means, which may provoke them.

He warned that jinn exploit fear, anger, and spiritual negligence. Protection, he said, lies in strong faith, knowledge of the unseen, and regular recitation of the Qur’an, especially Surah Al-Baqarah.

Ustadh Fadlu-Rahman also explained that women are more vulnerable due to physical and spiritual factors, particularly during menstruation when certain acts of worship are paused.

He noted that not all jinn are evil and that some are Muslims who sincerely follow the dictates of Islam.
