O You, Faithful Freshers of UI
By Mojeed Ajibola
May 08, 2025Many sat for O’level exams like you—
But never made it past the first view.
Some wrote JAMB, but got jammed midway,
You? You soared through—clear all the way!
From O’level to Post-UTME,
Now here you are—UI’s own, proudly.
Today is more than celebration,
It’s a moment of deep appreciation—
To Allah, the Most Compassionate,
The One who made your journey great.
It’s a day to learn what lies ahead,
What it means to be truly fed—
Not just by books and scholarly quests,
But by faith, values, and lifelong tests.
It’s a time to rejoice, to connect, to grow,
To ask, to seek, and to truly know.
To learn, unlearn, and then relearn,
For every question, it’s your turn.
O you, faithful freshers of UI,
From my lips to the skies up high:
Glad tidings shall ever surround you,
May UI never say "we advised you."
May you not wear your gown *before* the graduate.
And five-point your courses, in every state.
May success follow you in every plan,
And lead you home—to Jannah's land.
