The University of Ibadan has announced the commencement of six weeks of virtual lectures for fresh undergraduate students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The announcement was contained in a memo released on 15th January, 2026 by the Office of the Registrar, which stated that the virtual lectures, meant to kick-start the academic session, would commence on Monday, 19th January, 2026.

According to the memo, fresh students who have been cleared by the Admissions Office are eligible to join the virtual classes, while students who are unable to access resources for the online learning were advised to contact the Admissions Office via admissions.ui.edu.ng.

It further stated that eligible students would receive invitations, through the mobile numbers used during the admission process, to join a WhatsApp Community created for further interactions concerning the virtual lectures, which will run for six weeks.

The memo also enjoined fresh students to regularly visit the university’s official website for updates on fees and registration, while clearly noting that students are not expected physically on campus during the period.
