NELFUND to Disburse Funds to Applicants Within Two Weeks

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disclosed that disbursement to applicants will commence within two weeks.

NELFUND made this known at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, on Wednesday, 21st May, 2025, during an interactive session aimed at addressing students’ concerns about the scheme.

The Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Aliyu Muhammed, introduced some previous beneficiaries and encouraged students to apply. He assured those who have already applied that disbursement would begin in two weeks.

He emphasised that the initiative is designed to support indigent students in paying their school fees, with repayment expected to begin two years after graduation.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Peter Olapegba, in his welcome remarks, urged students to take the loan responsibly and with the intention of repaying it, noting that this would help sustain the programme for future generations.

The session also provided students with a platform to ask questions about issues such as the increase in upkeep amount, verification delays, and feedback channels, with officials providing responses.
