NELFUND Extends Application Deadline to February 27

The National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for student loan applications for the 2025/2026 academic session to 27th February, 2026.

The announcement of the extension was made in a statement released yesterday.

Recall that NELFUND had earlier opened the application portal on 23rd October, 2025, with 31st January, 2026 initially scheduled as the deadline.

However, barely two days to the initial deadline, the agency announced an extension to accommodate more applicants who have either not begun or are yet to complete their applications.

The extension is in line with the agency’s vision to provide equal opportunity and financial access for all Nigerian students.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, said, “This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund.”

All prospective applicants who are yet to apply or complete their applications are encouraged to take advantage of the extension before the new deadline.
