April 27, 2025The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan (MSSNUI), has held its Freshers’ Meet and Greet programme for the 2024/2025 Academic Session on Saturday, 26th April, 2025, at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.
The programme aimed to further welcome the freshers to the society, familiarise them with MSSNUI’s structure and core activities, and provide a warm and engaging platform for interaction and bonding.
Highlights of the programme included a Qur’an Galore session, where interested freshers recited the Qur’an using diverse riwāyāt, the formal introduction of the central executive council members, and an interactive session.
In his address, the Ameer, Mallam Umar Faruq Qamorudeen, welcomed the new students, introduced them to MSSNUI’s various committees and their functions, and encouraged them to get involved. He highlighted key activities such as Da’wah Enlightenment (Tuesdays), Spiritual Night (Thursdays), Sisters' Seminar, and Brothers' Forum.
He also urged the students to uphold Islamic values, strive for academic excellence, and participate in meaningful activities that would enhance their lives both spiritually and intellectually.
One of the freshers described the experience as "a very exciting opportunity to meet new people" and said meeting the executives was "a great privilege."
Another fresher remarked, "The programme was educative and informative. I met new people, both freshers and staylites, and even gained some insights from those who are more experienced in my course, department, and faculty. It was a very good experience."
MSSNUI plans to follow up the programme with a nine-day orientation and other engaging activities aimed at helping new students adjust smoothly to university life and enhance their academic, spiritual, and social growth.
