May 19, 2025The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan (MSSNUI), held its 1446/1447AH Sisters' Day Out on Sunday, 18th May, 2025, at the University of Ibadan Botanical Garden.
The event, themed “Lustrous Bloom,” featured three key lecture sessions. Director Marufa Saka Ololade delivered the keynote lecture, while Dr. Zulaykho Adeleye and Sister Ganiyah Adepoju led the health and relationship sessions, respectively.
In her keynote lecture, Director Marufa Saka Ololade emphasised the rights Muslim sisters owe to one another, including loving and hating solely for the sake of Allah. She highlighted the harmful effects of disunity among sisters and urged them to maintain strong bonds. She also encouraged sisters to familiarise themselves with the names and numbers of all chapters in the Qur'an.
Dr. Zulaykho Adeleye, who led the health session, spoke on “Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS),” explaining its causes, consequences, and associated conditions. She discussed how PCOS can be managed through lifestyle changes or medication, although it has no known cure.
In the relationship talk session, Sister Ganiyah Adepoju focused on effective communication and its benefits in building strong relationships. She described different types of relationships and introduced seven tools for healthy communication.
She also shared the acronym "LEARN" as a guide for active listening: Look at the speaker, Eliminate distractions, Acknowledge with a nod, Reflect back on what you heard, and Never interrupt. She concluded by highlighting the elements that strengthen or damage relationships and noted that "relationship is secret, marriage is discreet."
