The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), B-Zone, has mourned the late Professor AbdulGaniy Raji, a Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Ibadan and a supporter of the Society.

In a statement dated 20 December 2025, and signed by the Amir of MSSN B-Zone, Dr. Kolawole Moshood Adelaja, and the Society’s Public Relations Officer, Moshood Abiola Tahir, the Society described Prof. Raji as “a man of sound intellect, integrity, and deep Islamic values.”

Professor Raji, who passed away on Friday, 19th December 2025 (28th Jumadal Akhirah 1447 AH), was noted for his contributions to teaching, research, and the mentoring of generations of students.

Beyond the university, he served as a former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun, Ekiti, and Ogun States, where he contributed to Nigeria’s democratic processes.

According to the statement, his relationship with MSSN was marked by “sincere commitment, moral guidance, and unwavering support for the spiritual and intellectual development of Muslim students.”

Quoting the Qur’an, “Every soul shall taste death” (Qur’an 3:185), the Society reflected on what it described as a life devoted to knowledge, humanity, and the Muslim Ummah.

The leadership and members of MSSN B-Zone extended condolences to his family, colleagues at the University of Ibadan, students, associates, and the Muslim community.

“We pray Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, pardon him and grant him well-being, honour his abode, expand his grave, make it a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and admit him into Al-Firdaws al-A‘lā,” the statement read.
