Lullaby to a Gazan Child
UN
Ubaydah Najmudeen
May 17, 2024Rock a bye bye, my cute and innocent
Who goaded you into vengeful thoughts
Did you watch your father’s throat being slit?
Or was it your mother who got bullied?
Never mind, it is them not you who is a terrorist
You’re only the Mandela of your Nation
They forgot when they gave motivation
That it’s fine to resent who hurts you
Like they are the super heroes; saving the traumatized.
Yet, when they’re given a taste of their own pill
They fret and raise tantrums
Like a child in quest of lollipop
But wanting lollipop is more naughty
Especially when it is out of reach
Usually a dream that flows away with the air at wake so thin
