The Joint Shurah Committee of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, Akinyele Area Council (MSSNAAC), and the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan (MSSNUI), has opened nominations for the next set of executives for the 1448/49 administrative year.

Tasked with selecting individuals for positions in MSSNAAC and MSSNUI, the committee opened nominations on Tuesday, 4th August, 2026.

The committee announced 17th August, 2026, as the deadline for nominations and encouraged Muslim students to look beyond popularity and friendship and consider character and capacity to serve.

Speaking to Adh-Dhikr Press on what students should look out for when nominating individuals, Imam Ahmad Audu, a member of the committee, explained that students should look beyond popularity and consider the willingness and capacity to serve.

“Students should look beyond the popularity of a person but rather look at the willingness and capacity to serve.

“They should look beyond friendship but rather look at the character and expected attributes of a responsible Islamic leader,” he said.

Imam Audu also spoke on the structure of the nomination form, explaining that it has been designed to ensure that the expected duties and responsibilities of each office are clearly outlined.

“The nomination form this year has been structured to ensure that the basic expected duties and responsibilities of each office are clearly outlined,” he said.

He advised students to carefully consider the responsibilities attached to each position before nominating anyone.

“Before nominating anyone, students should carefully review those roles and consider whether their nominee is capable of performing the expected functions,” he added.
