MULAN also disclosed that an appeal has been lodged against the judgment of the Court of Appeal and that an application for an injunction pending appeal and a stay of execution has been filed before the Supreme Court.
The association further called on all parties, their supporters, parents, students, school authorities and members of the public connected to the matter to remain calm and refrain from any conduct capable of undermining public peace or interfering with the due process and administration of justice.
It also urged the management of the International School, University of Ibadan (ISI) to continue to uphold the rule of law by respecting the pending judicial processes and refraining from taking any steps that may prejudice or render nugatory the issues before the Supreme Court.
On maintaining the current situation pending the apex court's decision, MULAN said, "It is very important and in the interest of justice, institutional harmony and the maintenance of peace that the existing status quo (state of affairs) in the School be maintained and sustained and the situation managed with restraint until the Supreme Court has had the opportunity to pronounce finally on the constitutional questions raised in the appeal."
MULAN further stated that it remains committed to the supremacy of the Constitution, the peaceful resolution of disputes through lawful means, and the protection of the rights guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
