Hikmat Yusuf Wins Adh-Dhikr Press Oratory Contest

Hikmat Yusuf has emerged winner of the Oratory Contest held during Adh-Dhikr Press First Communication Seminar on Saturday, 27th September 2025, at the Faculty of Science Lecture Theatre (Lakeside), University of Ibadan.

The contest, themed “What Cancel Culture Says About Us,” had its preliminary round on Sunday, 21st September 2025, at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.

Five members of Adh-Dhikr Press, namely Sudais Shuaib, Hikmat Yusuf, Azeezah Ma’ruf, Zainullah Fajobi and Abdulwasiu Olorunnisola, featured in the final round.

They educated the audience on the topic from different perspectives, explaining both the positive and negative sides of cancel culture and what it portrays about people depending on how they practice it.

The judges, Ms. Sakeenah Kareem and Mr. AbdulKabeer Tijani, commented on the contestants’ performances and advised them on how to improve as speakers in future engagements.

Two members of the audience were also given the opportunity to speak on the topic and were rewarded for their participation.

At the end of the contest, Hikmat Yusuf took first place, followed by Zainullah Fajobi as first runner-up and Azeezah Ma’ruf as second runner-up. Sudais Shuaib and Abdulwasiu Olorunnisola emerged fourth and fifth, respectively.

All participants received certificates, while the top three were awarded additional prizes.

One of the guest speakers at the seminar, Mr. Mutiu Iyanda Lasisi, also promised to award the top three winners scholarships for a mentorship programme worth ₦300,000.
