Court of Appeal Justice Tasks UI Fresh Students on Knowledge, Character and Conduct
Tohir Najimdeen
April 02, 2026Hon. Justice Misitura Bolaji-Yusuf, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, has tasked fresh students of the University of Ibadan to improve themselves in knowledge, character and conduct during their stay on campus.
The charge was given on Sunday, 29th March, 2026, at the formal opening ceremony of the 2026 Orientation Week organised by the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan (MSSNUI).
Speaking as the Mother of the Day, the Hon. Justice reminded the students that admission into universities, especially first-class institutions, has become highly competitive, and called on them to make good use of the opportunity of being among the selected few admitted.
The Hon. Justice stressed the importance of combining academic excellence with good character and exemplary conduct.
In her words, “Your knowledge must improve. Your character must improve. Your conduct in every way must speak before you open your mouth to say that you are a product of this university.”
The Hon. Justice noted that the world outside the university is highly competitive, adding that whatever the students make of the privilege and opportunity given to them would, to a large extent, determine their path in life and how easily they succeed.
She also told the students not to waste their time on campus, saying they would need their faith and strength to succeed.
The Hon. Justice further expressed confidence that the University of Ibadan Muslim Community would always be available to support the students in times of need, and wished them success in the university and in the hereafter.
