Adh-Dhikr Press Deputy E-in-C Emerges Second Runner-up of 2024 Sunday Oguntola Essay Competition

December 01, 2024Sakeenah Kareem, a deputy Editor-in-Chief of Adh-Dhikr Press Organisation, has emerged the second runner-up of the 2024 Sunday Oguntola Essay Competition.
Sakeenah was announced the second runner-up on Saturday , December 30th at the 36th induction ceremony of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan.
The yearly competition was named after its sponsor, Mr. Sunday Oguntola, an alumnus and the Editorial Adviser of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan.
The topic for this year's competition was “Using monetary policies to combat increasing inflation and improve value of the naira".
Speaking after her announcement, Sakeenah was really excited; and said, "While I don't write for the award nor money, it feels good to be recognized regardless".
She described the writing process as an uneasy one. "The writing process is never easy but I'm glad that it was worth it. After writing, I sent it to my friends and editors for review, then I kept editing and rewriting until I felt it was good enough for the submission."
