Abducted Oyo Pupils, Teachers Regain Freedom After Weeks in Captivity

July 10, 2026The pupils and teachers abducted during the 15 May 2026 attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after weeks in captivity.
The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his X account.
"Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies," Onanuga stated.
They regained their freedom after spending about 56 days in captivity, bringing an end to weeks of anxiety for their families and the affected communities.
